Description

Delica 4 RELIABLE HIGH PERFORMANCE The Delica has been a mainstay of the Spyderco product line since its introduction in 1990. It and its larger counterpart, the Endura, pioneered the concept of lightweight, clip-carry, one-handed folding knives and were instrumental in popularizing fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) as a handle material. In 2006, the Delica was completely redesigned to yield the current Delica4. To increase strength while keeping weight to a minimum, its handle features skeletonized stainless steel liners encased within FRN scales boasting Spyderco’s Bi-Directional Texturing pattern for a superior grip. Following the introduction of the saber-ground Delica4 with a black FRN handle, Spyderco introduced a version featuring the Emerson opening feature for quick deployment, a flat-ground version with a premium ZDP-189 blade, and a series of flat-ground VG-10 Delicas with different colored FRN handles. Features

Reliable High Performance The Delica 4 family includes a full range of handle colors, blade grinds, and edge configurations, as well as a blunted training version and a model with the Emerson Opening.

Superior Blade Steel The VG-10 blade has a flat saber-ground grind with a stronger tip and larger 13mm opening hole.

Ultra-Lightweight Inside the handle are dual skeletonized Stainless Steel liners which strengthen the knife without additional weight and double as an anchor for external and internal components to attach through generating more sturdiness.

Ergonomic Added to the blade's spine is slip resistant jimping. Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open/close action and the clip is upgraded to a four-way tip-up, tip-down, left-or right-handed clip.

A Secure Grip Molded onto the FRN Handle's surface is Bi-Directional Texturing for slip-free tactile traction. It provides resistance to slipping in the hand.

Bottom line - this is my third Spyderco knife, and they make a high quality, long lasting and durable product. I have never had an issue with their knives.I bought the model with the Combo Edge and Black FRN handle. The Delica comes in MANY configurations. I bought this model as it was the lightest Delica I could find at 2.5oz, and it has a clip on the side for clipping on your pocket or belt loop. I typically clip in on my pocket with the knife inside my pocket still - decreases the chances I will lose it!This knife, like all my other Spyderco VG-10's, holds an edge well. Please note, however, these are a little more difficult to sharpen than most knives with softer steel - so pay attention to that and use only good tools for sharpening. The VG-10 is not as forgiving when sharpening, and screw ups are harder to fix!!Note that when I bought this here on Amazon about 9 months ago, the description said AUS-6 steel for this knife. This description was wrong, the steel on this knife is the higher quality VG-10 steel. (it holds an edge longer and is harder than AUS-6). I knew it was VG-10 when I bought it, I have two other VG-10 knives and prefer them.I chuckled when I came back to write this review, and see the description STILL SAYS AUS-6!! I know Amazon has been contacted to change it, but I guess they need more time! ;-) Amazon seems to have a hard time getting the descriptions correct on Spyderco, and matched up with the right knives. Keep that in mind, and verify what is written with a known source.Overall five stars - love Spyderco, would buy again and would recommend this knife for those looking for a small, lightweight powerhouse with a good blade, and one that will last a long time.
