I have used 2" discs for part of the process of polishing dough bowls I have made, and I liked the way they work. But these have a unique design that really set them apart from anything I have used. Each sanding disc is pre-mounted to a plastic body so you replace the whole unit instead of merely replacing the sandpaper with sticky mount or velcro. That is a very good design. The sanding disc is threaded for quick installation and removal. I suppose these could be used with a die grinder, but I don't have one. But the kit does come with a stem that can be mounted in any drill, which is the way I have typically used them anyway. The variety of sanding grits come packaged and separated by grit in zip seal plastic bags. The only grit designation I can find is scribbled on the bag, so if you dump a bunch of these out of the bag, you won't know what grit it is. Be careful to keep them bagged! In summary, I really do like these!!
