I am so impressed with the incredible quality of this Popsweeter coffee grinder. It has a very solid feel to it, everything fits together perfectly and moves smoothly in this precision-calibrated piece of equipment. The wooden handle is smoothly polished and comfortable in your hand. And there is no plastic, thank goodness. I read so many articles about the dangers of plastics and microplastics in our environment, in our food, and unfortunately, already in our bodies, wreaking havoc with our health. At least I know I am not adding any insult to injury using this grinder. I like doing things manually, maybe because I'm an artist and love to work with my hands, maybe it's the nostalgia for the way things were done before everything became automated to the point that even lifting a finger was deemed to be too much effort, and you should only need to bark an order at your smart-something. There is just something viscerally satisfying about doing things through manual effort and labor. I remember being a little girl of about ten or eleven at summer camp, and they had an old-fashioned ice cream maker with a huge wooden barrel that you had to fill with ice and salt, and crank the handle by hand, which took considerable effort. All the kids took turns cranking, but most quit after a minute and just wanted ice cream. I kept at it and actually finished it, cranking in the hot sun for at least fifteen minutes straight as sweat poured down my face and my arms and shoulders burned. And you know what? That was the absolute best ice cream I ever had, and I still think so to this day. It was the effort that made the reward sweeter. Of course this coffee grinder doesn't require nearly as much effort, but I still appreciate the fruits of some old fashioned labor. And when you have a beautifully made piece of equipment, it is a pleasure to use. The degree of adjustability is incredible, there are 72 levels of precision grind settings. Part of the fun will be trying it out until I get the perfect size grind for my pour-over coffee maker, to make the perfect cup of black coffee. This is a beautiful piece of machinery, and compared to some others of similar quality it is a good deal. It comes with a black storage pouch and a cleaning brush.
