Full disclosure: I've never used a dentist fitted/prescribed night guard - just very dubious of how much better those are given how much they cost. Over the years I've used the ones you boil in hot water and then bite down on for a custom fit, but I've mostly found those to be too big and cumbersome, and they fall out of my mouth or lack comfort overnight. I love these guards because they have a very low profile in my mouth - just fit over my molars. Most night guards go over my top row of teeth but I wear these on the bottom. Each unit is good for multiple uses but also easy to discard or not worry about if you lose one. I clean them in hot water, with a splash of mouthwash...buy a new pack periodically as needed - highly recommended from a lifelong grinder.I have spent thousands on dental device from the professional dentists trying to find something that stops me from clenching. They were all the thing that works 90 % of the time. So I shelled out the money. Only to have expensive devices I bit into and was damaging other teeth. While these plackers do not stop me from clenching they are not hard and not damaging my teeth. I wear right through even the strongest hard plastic pro models within a year that were suppose to be the answer and solve the problem. I had a full mouth piece that went around all my top teeth but it hurt all my bottom teeth and started causing nerve pain. The second was a front tooth glide type that your bottom teeth are supposed to slid off ( mine just dug a groove into it thus making it useless.) So was afraid that I would bite through this placker and choke. However, I wear it on my bottom teeth (it does sometimes feel uncomfortable between my teeth and the bottom lip and gum if it slides down.) and I also have learned to do face massage and moving my jaw to loosen it up before bed a few times a week and have had great success with this product. I am also managing chronic pain better. I get about a week or two use by rinsing every morning ( depending upon how much I clench) I dodent the teeth guards but have not punctured or bit through one yet. They have never came out of my mouth at night nor have they choked me either! They stay where I place them ( i do have a small mouth). My teeth are definitely less sore than when I dont use anything or with one of the professional guards. I have been using these plackers a couple months now. I will purchase again. I purchased some other devices but so far since this has been working I havent even bothered to try the others. ( it is so nice to find something that is helping for now) My doctors advice if you clench you cant rely just on the device to solve the problem, utilize massage stretching to reduce clenching PT or youtube videos may help. Stress can play a part in clenching and too many doctors focus on this aspect only, when it can also be caused by chronic pain anywhere in the body ( causing physical stress), joint dysfunction of the jaw, teeth alignment and connective tissue disorders, as well as some neck and muscle issues. So getting to the bottom of your clenching is important especially if you do not feel stress is the only reason. Also Chronic pain anywhere in the body can cause fight or flight body response and clenching is one aspect of that response, so finding ways to help your body not feel in danger/pain can have great impact on your clenching. Hope this helps!A bit uncomfortable for me; however, they really do appear to workI had 5 different dentist-produced/customized nightguards that each failed where THIS succeeded! I am shocked at the effectiveness and ease of use! Previously, even while sleeping with a custom night/mouth guard, I would continuously bite the lower inside lip. Yes, OUCH! My mouth has healed in less than a week while using this each night. Yes! My sleep quality is improved immensely as the biting pain would fully awaken me each time. I place the night protection in what seems to me to be an upside-down position, but it works perfectly to protect my lower teeth from grinding and prevents me from biting the inside of my bottom lip. WOW! At a huge fraction of the cost! And far more sanitary, I'm sure. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!These are fabulous. They only took a couple nights to get used to, and they're almost like a comforting sleep item to me now. For me, they last quite a long time. Just keep them clean. I've had to use scissors a couple of times to trim away damaged (from grinding) segments so they don't poke my tongue, but then it's good as new.My only qualm with these is that I don't know if they protect your front teeth from grinding. They certainly protect my back teeth, when I lock my front teeth together to test it, the grind-guard has enough space in the back to fall out of place and not protect my front teeth any longer.I just kind of stay hoping that I'm grinding my back teeth down enough on the rubber flap bits that I'm too busy to try and grind my front teeth in the middle of the night, lol.I have small mouth but some are not long enoughMy daughter and I both grind and clench our teeth. I found this out the difficult way (cracked tooth!). At the time we did not have Dental insurance and I could not afford to buy a bite guard. The Dentist recommended the Placker brand to use. They are super easy to use, don’t bother me at all. I have now been using them for years. If I miss putting them in, my jaw and teeth hurt in the morning. My oldest daughter has the same issues so she uses them every day too. I really wish I could get to the underlying issue as to why I clench my teeth so hard, but in the meantime these save my teeth from expensive Dental work! These are actually comfortable. If you need a mouthguard, but haven’t worn one because you can’t stand how they feel, these are for you. I found these after years of needing to wear a mouthguard, but absolutely hating them. (Other ones literally feel like you have a hockey puck in your mouth.)Terrible.One size does not fit all. These are small and flimsy. Because they are made of soft flexible material they don't stay in place, and as such are more likely to be a choking hazard than a cure to grinding my teeth. They do not fit in place as per the diagrams in the description. You might as well just put a rubber band in your mouth, it'll be the same.Although the contents of the box have not been used and are individually sealed, because I have opened the box I can not get a refund.Waste of money with a bad description. I can not recommend these to anyone at all.2nd night woke up to no guard in? Turned out I was lying on it. My concern was if it came out without myrealising, it could have gone the other way. Decided that these were not for me.I used an app sleep recorder and found out that I really make loud grinding sound. Similar to a creaking door that opens and closes. It took me a while to find out it was the sound of grinding teeth. Then having this guard this sound stopped. For my teeth it’s perfect and it doesn’t move and stays in place. I was unsure after reading some reviews here. But I guess mouths are different and it actually fits perfect. Also I notice when I put this guard in my mouth I also stop clenching my jaw. I also have less issues with jaw “muscle” pain which I also tend to have.Anyways, it does what the box says. I am wondering how often I actually can use this. Ideally find something that doesn’t require me to throw away after few uses.I am a woman with a smallish jaw and a real issue with grinding both day and night, and this is the first thing that has helped. I spent £200 + on one from the dentists and other solutions that needed you to mould to your teeth it just isn't possible for me to sleep in those or wear it for any length of time. So relieved to have finally found something that works for me. I would recommend this.Do I have a problem grinding my teeth when I sleep? YES! I cracked my tooth! I had bought others before. Even had one specially made but they were so big I spit them out in my sleep. Found them on my pillow. These are small, easy to rinse off after the night's use and because of their size, they don't bother me as they stay in my mouth!
